Quality
Name: Gloria Kiri Kiri
Title: Quality Supervisor
Company: MTM Pty. Ltd.
"My first introduction into the automotive industry was back in 1989 when I started with MTM. My previous work experience was in the hospitality and horticultural industries.
When I started at MTM I was hired as an assembly operator putting together auto shift assemblies and other automotive components, which MTM supply to Ford, Holden, Mitsubishi and Toyota. I found this role very interesting and challenging.
The more familiar I got with the overall assembly process the more I started to learn about the customers expectations and requirements. I learnt what PCPs (Process Control Plans) were and why we needed to follow them and I was also trained on how to complete Statistical Process Control Plans. This also taught me how to use a vernier and force gauge.
I began to get involved in Quality Assurance projects and with our customer's directly. While working in the assembly area I was also able to become very familiar with all of our products and processes.
I was then promoted to the Quality Department and given responsibility for the Final Audit area. In this role I was trained to check the finished products against design drawings and ensure all components that are sent to our customers have been checked.
After spending some time in the Final Audit area I was then promoted to the role of Customer Concerns Co Ordinator. This role put me in direct contact with our customer's so whenever there were any issues with a product I would go and investigate the concern.
My current role at MTM has given me a greater responsibility in managing people and the Quality systems. My goal is to ensure that we exceed our customer's expectations and respond to customer related issues promptly. I am now more involved with Customers both internal and external (Ford, Holden, Toyota and Mitsubishi) and I also deal with Suppliers to MTM.
The automotive industry is a very exciting and dynamic industry, which has enabled me to learn a great deal about people, accountability, quality systems and customer requirements. At MTM I have undertaken a number of development programs such as management and supervision training, design programs, presentation and problem solving skills training. MTM and the automotive industry have really provided me with a great career".
